Orgy played the Constellation Room to a very packed crowd on April 25th, and I heard some amazing stories from the fanbase that had shown up. Fans first saw the band at the Whisky when they were on tour with Alien Ant Farm – when they played shows at bars that don't exist anymore. Hearing everyone waiting in line predict that all of the main stage’s crowd were going to try to jump ship to go to The Constellation Room was great to hear.

Starting out was I Ya Toyah, a Polish artist based in Chicago who came prepared with her own stage lights and backing visuals. Her fashion aesthetic was sharp, with latex sheen and dramatically styled hair. I Ya Toyah embodies the music she makes perfectly, which could be described as darkwave or electric industrial. Michigan-based Horizon Theory was up after I Ya Toyah, who came with a super animated stage presence and an even harder sound. Their style fit in with the nu-metal crowd, with melodic vocals and guttural screaming. The crowd kept getting increasingly packed throughout the night; so while the dancing and thrashing was kept to a minimum, it wasn't a reflection of the crowd’s enthusiasm.

Cold was an interesting act to watch; with cool grooves and a moody atmosphere to their music, they complemented the rest of the acts. The band grabbed songs from throughout their entire catalog, creating an evenly spread set. The main event was Orgy, a nu-metal outfit who packed the room to the point where it was near impossible to move around. Their sound is a wonderful blend of hip hop, EDM, and metal influences. They are stunning to watch. The group doesn’t have to command attention from the crowd – the magnetism is natural. As a more casual fan of this corner of the alt-scene, I felt as if the lineup was well a cohesive creative through-line; any fan of industrial or nu-metal would enjoy this tour.
